After Frog's exclusive interview with me, he wanted to know more about Planet Jenna! Here's what he asked me, all about the site!!

SO YOU HAVE THIS WEBSITE, PLANET JENNA. TELL ME ABOUT THAT. WHERE DID THE IDEA FOR PLANET JENNA COME FROM?

Dude, it was crazy! I almost feel like Jack in The Shining, like I've ALWAYS been here... I feel like I was just destined to own Planet Jenna, or that it was sitting there waiting for me or something, until I was ready to handle it. I've always known that I wanted to have my own website, and that I wanted it to be this insanely over-the-top multimedia powerhouse.
I actually had a website before this one, for I wanna say MAYBE 6 months, in 2017. Maybe like February - September or something... I had my name, jennamagdala.com, which was pretty rad design-wise, but it was nowhere near as expansive as this and something about the URL just wasn't vibing with me. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my name but when we gotta start bringing the phonetic alphabet to the party and then suddenly I can't remember any words that begin with "G" or "D", we gotta simplify that shit, you know? "It's jennaMAGDALA G as in... um.. Gonorrhea? D as in... Diphtheria..." Why does my brain automatically go there? Who knows, there's a topic for our next interview...
So, one night, I got this download from the Universe: it said "Planet Jenna". And I almost ignored it. I was like "There is NO WAY that .com is available. It's too fucking awesome..." But, as is often the case when I'm certain I know more than the Universe, they just sat back with a wry little smile and peered over their Benjamin Franklin glasses, "Why don't you just HUMOR us, Babydoll, and go CHECK?"
And DUDE. Not only was it available, it had BEEN available for like FIFTEEN YEARS. Only one person EVER had registered planetjenna.com, like back in 2001 and never did anything with it. I swear, it was just slumbering beneath the ocean like Cthulhu, waiting for me to learn how to wield its magicks.
At that point, I knew this was something quite monumental. As soon as I registered the domain, I could just feel it. So I actually pulled jm.com, disappeared from social media, and went DEEP. I hired my attorney, Dr. Gonzo, (the filthy bastard) formed Planet Jenna the corporation, filed everything with the state in March of 2018, and started to build. BUT... It was never quite right. I've been on the precipice of launch like 8 times, but - each time - something has stopped me and I've literally deleted everything and started over. Frazzled, manic, and never quite satisfied with my creation, it was giving massive Peter Cushing, in his most unhinged of Dr. Frankensteins...
Fast forward to 2020. *Cringe Factor: Activate* Just the MENTION is triggering. I honestly feel, though, it was such a powerful time for me because - that summer - I did nothing but sunbathe, work out, play in the forest, and connect with my creativity on this rapturous otherworldly level. I wrote, I drew, I journaled, I fasted, I meditated... I would go days without eating and stay up all night, and I started going into these trance-like states where I would tap into Planet Jenna, but like... I'm not sure how to explain it... It was like, this Vortex of EVERYTHING Planet Jenna could ever be. Like every weird, twisted, absurd, mind blowing, sexy, perverted, groundbreaking, transcendental piece of Planet Jenna's potentiality was right there in front of me. I felt like I was staring at the blueprints of the Universe itself. Like, this is what Beings must see after they're given the keys to create their own planets...
Each night, I would wait until it was super late and quiet, and I would focus on a different section, like "Okay, my photo galleries, what do I see?" And the downloads would just start coming in faster than I could write them down. It's like I was neurally linked to this supercomputer that was just inputting data directly into my mind. I have notebooks FILLED with the craziest shit you've never even thought to imagine.
And that process was so intense and so powerful, after I had them all written down, I put the notebooks away and didn't even LOOK at them for months. It's like I had to recover from what I'd tapped into or something... But then I started to build again. And, this time, I ended up getting super overwhelmed because I was trying to come straight out of the gate with everything I'd seen in my visions.
Basically, I was trying to build Amazon the way it is NOW as opposed to what it looked like when it first launched. So I put the notebooks away again, tried to forget as much of it as I could, and built what you see now: the badass tip of a gargantuan iceberg that is going to blow your fucking mind!!

I totally did!! I run all aspects of Planet Jenna 100% by myself! I do all of my own photography, build the sets and props for my shoots, make my own outfits, film and edit my videos, do all of my own artwork and graphic design, hand-code everything on the site, and I also make all of the merch that I sell on Cult Star!

WHERE'D YOU LEARN TO CODE LIKE THAT??!

OMG Stack Overflow has been invaluable. Basically, I'll think of something I want to accomplish, code-wise, like a dynamic date string for example, and I'll type a question into Stack, like "How to code a dynamic date string"... I'll pour over the answers, copy a bunch of code into my editing app, and then play with it until it breaks.
Like, I'll remove certain lines or delete a semi-colon, and see which parts of the site stop working. I'm kinda reverse-engineering the code like downed alien tech so I can learn how all of the pieces fit together. Then I reassemble them into the working components of the site.
I love ALL of it, but the database stuff is definitely one of my favorite aspects because it is SO powerful. It gives me the ability to pretty much fully automate the site, updating multiple pages at once with a single new entry into SQL!

WHICH EDITING APPS DO YOU USE TO BUILD AND UPDATE THE SITE?

For the HTML, PHP and CSS, I use Sublime Text editor. My database stuff is SQL-driven and I use PHP MyAdmin to administer and update the databases! For my photos and videos, I use Adobe Creative Cloud with Photoshop and Premiere! Lots of product placement in that response, I realize... None of those are sponsored, it's all just badass stuff that I've bought on my own and use the hell out of!!

That's a great question! It's like you do this for a living or something... A lot of my links are set to open in their own windows, so if someone has a popup blocker installed, it may stop them from opening. If one of my links is outdated, like a 404 error or something, let me know! Also, if someone is having any other issues with ANY aspect of the site, send me an email so I can figure it out!!

Oh man, wouldn't it be rad if parts of the site required those 3-D glasses from the 80s?? Hmmmmmm... THERE'S an idea for a future update!! But no, I don't think anyone should need any special softwares or apps installed to view anything! A fast internet connection is really the only requirement, I think! Some of my videos may lag or not play if someone is on a slow connection... Also, my webcam stuff and live stream gaming may be choppy, like if someone is using their phone's data instead of WiFi. But, if someone runs into ANY issues with anything on the site, definitely send me an email to let me know so I can Scooby Doo that ish and get to the bottom of it!!
